First, an explanation:

What is hypnosis? : A state of deep relaxation, concentration and heightened awareness.    
                           
What is hypnotherapy? : The use of hypnosis in therapy to bring about  a beneficial change to a persons well being.

Hypnosis is a simple and very safe procedure. The induction leads you into a daydream like state, where your mind and body become relaxed.

Although you may look as though you are asleep, your mind is actually more aware than normal. You will know exactly what is happening and remain in full control. You can therefore not be made to do anything against your will.

This calm state allows the conscious mind to relax sufficiently enough to be partly bypassed, which makes access to the inner part of the mind, known as the subconscious, much easier.

Communication with the subconscious is the key to this therapy. This part of the mind can hold on to long forgotten ‘repressed’ thoughts and emotions, which can have an adverse effect, causing a wide range of psychological disorders. Rediscovering these repressed thought patterns and releasing them will bring about a permanent beneficial change.

There are two main types of therapy used for different purposes.


Suggestion Therapy : This is applied to conditions such as smoking cessation, weight management and confidence boosting. Thought patterns become engraved into the subconscious through habitual repetition. The therapy modifies these behaviours using very simple methods. This is usually covered in a single 90 minute session.

Analytical Therapy :  For the more deep rooted emotional and psychological conditions where the causes are explored which in turn will cure the symptoms of very many disorders such as anxieties, phobias, fears and obsessions. This normally takes three or four weekly sessions.
