Thank you for your interest in this home
study training course.
I have designed and developed it to
enable you go into practice as a Smoking Cessation specialist with
confidence, and it is suitable for all qualified Hypnotherapists.
The procedures
taught here have been developed and evolved over many years of successful
practice at Hypnotherapy South West. The whole process is based on a single, fully
integrated therapy session lasting 90 minutes, as this has proved to be the
most successful format for smoking cessation.
Every step of
the 90-minute procedure is discussed in the finest detail to instil confidence
and understanding, allowing you to use your new skills immediately.
There are no time limits to complete the
course so you can proceed comfortably at your own pace and will have the
benefit of full support throughout.
Once you have completed the course there
will be a straightforward ‘open book’ test paper taken at home, and when this
has been completed you will be awarded your Diploma in Smoking Cessation
Therapy, and then practice with the letters DSCT after your name.
There is nothing complicated in this
course and you can work through it at a steady pace to suit you, and with your
commitment to the training program you will achieve your aim.
There
are about 12 million adult cigarette smokers in Great Britain.
There are another 2.3 million who smoke pipes or cigars.
There are a similar number of ex – smokers
A very large percentage of these people also fall into the category of
“Those who really want to give up Smoking”, so there is a huge potential for
this type of business within the normal every day practice of
Hypnotherapy. This is also a very
lucrative component of our industry.
By learning the skills presented within this course you will be able to
treat even the most addicted of smokers with
a greater confidence than ever before.
We are a relatively
small concern and train only in specialist fields. The course has been carefully
developed over a period of time, based on the many years of my personal
experience in Hypnotherapy. Therefore, throughout the training I am able to
offer as much support as required. This is totally flexible as I appreciate
that we are all individuals and some of us prefer close supervision, while
others wish to work through the course with little contact. It’s your course
and you can do it in the way you want to. All you need to do is be committed
and learn to the standards that allow you to be a confident and competent
Smoking Cessation practitioner.
I have been practicing for many years as a
Hypnotherapist, specialising in Smoking Cessation, Past Life Regression and
Weight management. I hold qualifications in Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy,
Psychoanalysis and Past Life Therapy and belong to The National Council for
Hypnotherapy and The Past Life Therapists Association. I founded the PLTA to
recognise and support Past Life therapists in their own field.
Hypnotherapy South West
is based in Devon and has run two successful regular practices, using the
methods taught in the course.
The course is divided into nine lessons
Part 1
The theory behind the use of
hypnotherapy for smoking cessation is offered. Along with a presentation of
smoking statistics, the merits of the 90-minute format are discussed.
Appointment making, being the beginning of the therapy, is also covered.
Part 2
This section covers the first 30
minutes, which is a pre-therapy counselling session, where you gain information
from your client and explain what you are going to do. This will provide you
with the material you need to customise the therapy for each individual.
Part 3
Hypnosis begins with some suggested
inductions and deepeners. The first therapeutic tool used here is ‘replacement
therapy’ where an anchor is created to equip the smoker with a substitute.
Part 4
Positive imagery is used to instil the benefits
your client will gain as a non-smoker.
Part 5
Aversion therapy. The negatives are
explored here along with additional anchors to affect your subjects taste.
Part 6
This section looks at rejection – the ability
to refuse a cigarette when one is offered.
Part 7
The emotional connection with smoking is
presented here, focusing on the importance of your client taking control and
‘being there’ for loved ones. This is usually the most powerful section within
the therapy and provides the ‘wake up call’ that is needed.
Part 8
A variation of parts therapy is used
here in the final segment of the therapy, where the ‘smoker within’ is called
upon for negotiation and agreement.
Part 9
The whole 90-minute session is now
brought together and put into chronological order. Timing is very important so
the whole procedure is mapped out with time prompts. All the scripts used
within the session are individually presented for ease of use and/or copying.
Advertising is also covered.
How long
does it normally take to do the course?
